Lone Star College · D2L Brightspace (LSC-Online)

Does Silent Student work at Lone Star College?

Yes — on LSC-Online, Lone Star's D2L Brightspace.

LSC-Online is D2L Brightspace, reached from myLoneStar with your LSC email and a Microsoft Authenticator push. Three of the four courses we looked at are covered outright — both McGraw Hill Connect courses and the OpenStax psychology course that submits natively. MATH 1314 is the gap: it runs on Pearson MyLab Math.

What LSC-Online actually launches, course by course

Of the 4 Lone Star courses we looked at, Silent Student covers the courseware behind 1, partly covers 2 and has no dedicated solver for 1.

These are four high-enrollment Lone Star courses. LSC runs sections across six colleges and courseware varies between them, so confirm which platform your own section uses — the publisher link in the course content area is the reliable signal.

BIOL 1406 Partly covered

Biology I for Science Majors

McGraw Hill Connect

Chapter homework and the SmartBook adaptive-reading modules both run in Connect, launched from LSC-Online. The SmartBook readings have a dedicated solver and are worked end to end; the Connect chapter homework does not — the general visual agent attempts it and results vary by question type.

ACCT 2301 Partly covered

Principles of Financial Accounting

McGraw Hill Connect

Financial accounting homework is completed and submitted in McGraw Hill Connect, opened from the assignment link in LSC-Online so grades sync. Connect has no dedicated solver — the general visual agent works it one item at a time, so check the result before the deadline.

PSYC 2301 Covered

General Psychology

Native Brightspace

PSYC 2301 uses the free, open OpenStax Psychology text instead of a paid platform, so quizzes, discussions, and written work are completed directly in native Brightspace and held in Draft Review for your approval.

MATH 1314 Not covered

College Algebra

Pearson MyLab Math

College Algebra homework runs in Pearson MyLab Math, where the class gradebook lives; this isn't one of Silent Student's dedicated solvers, so it's handled by the general visual agent — opened from LSC-Online and worked one part at a time, and submitted as it goes — MyLab work is not held as a draft.

Questions

Lone Star FAQ

MATH 1314 College Algebra runs on Pearson MyLab Math, where the class gradebook lives. That is not one of Silent Student's dedicated solvers, so it falls back to the general visual agent and holds more for your review. The the McGraw Hill SmartBook readings are covered; the Connect problem sets are not.

You approve one Microsoft 365 prompt — usually a Microsoft Authenticator push on your phone — when the session starts. The trusted session persists on your device, so you are not re-prompted on every run.

Native Brightspace quizzes, discussions, and essays — like PSYC 2301 on the free OpenStax text — plus the STAR Bundle courseware it automates: the McGraw Hill SmartBook readings on BIOL 1406 and ACCT 2301, though not the Connect problem sets beside them. MATH 1314 runs on Pearson MyLab Math, which isn't a dedicated solver, so it's worked with the general visual agent and your review.

Yes. Lone Star runs the Texas A&M Transfer Partnership Program (LSC-CyFair students who complete 24 hours at a 3.0 GPA earn guaranteed admission) and the UH-led Houston GPS compact. Silent Student also supports Texas A&M's Canvas and the University of Texas at Austin's Canvas, plus Blinn College's eCampus — which is D2L Brightspace just like LSC-Online — so it keeps working if you transfer or co-enroll.

Lone Star's student code of conduct is yours to follow. Silent Student's design is what we can speak to, and it is narrower than it sounds: your Brightspace essays, discussion posts and file uploads always become drafts for you to read, edit and approve, and are never submitted on their own whatever confidence the model reports. Brightspace quizzes submit on their own — the quiz review hold is a Canvas feature. External courseware is the one to know about: it has no draft step at all, so a Packback post publishes as it is written.

Leave the lid up and stay on power. Silent Student is a desktop app for macOS and Windows that runs your queue in the background after you connect once, and it holds your machine awake while work is still in the queue — but it cannot stop a closing lid from sleeping the laptop, or wake a laptop that has already gone to sleep.

Lone Star runs sections across six colleges and courseware differs between them. Open the course in LSC-Online and look for the publisher link in the content area — assignments have to be launched from there for grades to sync back, so whatever appears is what your section really uses.

Connect and SmartBook are the heavy lifting at Lone Star

Both LSC courses we looked at that use a publisher platform run McGraw Hill, and Silent Student solves those end to end. MATH 1314's Pearson MyLab it does not.

What waits for you and what doesn't. Written work in your LMS — essays, discussion posts and file uploads — is always saved as a draft for you to read, edit and approve, and is never submitted on its own. Work on external courseware has no draft step: platforms like Packback publish as the solver writes them. Quizzes use a separate review hold, described in the FAQ above.
