What is My Business Course (myBusinessCourse, MBC)?
My Business Course, written myBusinessCourse and shortened to MBC, is the online homework platform for Cambridge Business Publishers’ accounting and business textbooks, in subjects such as financial, managerial, intermediate and cost accounting. Sage, which bought Cambridge in November 2024, calls it “an easy-to-use online platform that includes auto-graded homework, integrated Excel® assignments, and engaging, author-created videos,” and says it connects with Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle, D2L, Schoology and Sakai. Chicago Booth describes it as a Canvas plug-in that links “textbooks, along with any associated homework assignments, directly into their Canvas course site.”

Is there a My Business Course answer key?
Not a public one. Sage, which publishes myBusinessCourse, says its “Algorithmic assignments deliver immediate feedback and unlimited practice,” so the platform checks your work as you go. We found no official answer key or list of homework answers on Sage’s or myBusinessCourse’s pages, and the PDFs titled “myBusinessCourse answer key” that show up in search are hosted on sites with no connection to Cambridge Business Publishers. For help with a problem, Sage describes author-created eLecture and Guided Example videos that “break down complex concepts step by step.”

What it will not do on myBusinessCourse
Accounting is unforgiving about form, and an attempt left in progress scores nothing.
- One try per question. On homework that grades as you go, it clicks Check once and moves on whether the answer was right or wrong. It does not rework a missed question.
- Finished work is left finished. It reads each question's status first and moves straight past anything already marked correct. Your existing work is never overwritten or re-submitted — which also means it will not improve an answer you already got wrong and closed out.
- A finished run is not always a full run. myBusinessCourse can report an attempt complete even where questions were skipped rather than answered, so the app only records a run as fully covered when the number of questions it submitted matches the number in the quiz. If it can't establish that, it says so rather than claiming a clean sweep. Open the attempt and look before you assume every question landed.
- No promise on the entries. It works the journal entries the way you would and aims to get them right, but we do not promise a score. Treat the result as work done on your behalf and look it over the way you would your own.
- It finishes the attempt, which is not reversible. On graded quizzes it runs the full Finish attempt, Submit all and finish, and confirmation sequence. That is deliberate — an attempt left in progress scores nothing — but once it has run, the attempt is closed.
- It depends on your school's Canvas link. myBusinessCourse is reached through the existing LTI handshake from your Canvas assignment. There is no separate login to configure, and equally no way in if that link is broken or your course does not expose one.

What does Silent Student do on myBusinessCourse?
Accounting workouts — journal entries, account dropdowns, and debit/credit columns, then the full three-step submit.
Journal entries
It reads the accounting question table, picks the account from each dropdown, and types the debit and credit amounts row by row, including multi-row, multi-part entries.
Debits and credits balanced
Amounts go in as plain numbers, with each row's debit or credit cell filled and the blank side left empty, the way myBusinessCourse expects. No dollar signs, no commas to fight with.
Per-question Check
On homework that grades as you go, it fills the answer and clicks Check on each question, then reads the result back before moving on so nothing gets left half-done.
Skips answers already correct
It reads each question's status first and moves straight past any already marked correct. It only fills what's still open, so finished work stays finished and is never re-submitted.
The full attempt, finalized
After the last question it walks the three-step Moodle finish flow — Finish attempt, Submit all and finish, then the confirmation dialog — so the attempt doesn't sit stuck in progress.
Quiz and homework modes
It tells graded quizzes apart from as-you-go homework and handles each accordingly, including the gateway pages that ask you to continue or start your attempt before the questions load.
How does Silent Student work on myBusinessCourse, step by step?
Open it from Canvas
Point Silent Student at the assignment. It follows the Canvas link into myBusinessCourse in a new tab and clears the gateway page to load your questions — no separate login to deal with.
It works each question
One question per page, it reads the prompt, fills the account dropdowns and the debit and credit fields, and clicks Check where the assignment grades as you go, moving through the sidebar question by question.
It finishes the attempt
Once every open question is answered, it runs the full three-step submit so the attempt lands as complete instead of stalling in progress.
How do you log in to My Business Course?
Two ways. If your school added myBusinessCourse to Canvas or another LMS, open it from the assignment link and the LMS signs you in; the University of Minnesota says its copy “is only currently available as a Canvas integration.” Otherwise, sign in at mybusinesscourse.com/auth/login with your username or email and password (a “Forgot password?” link is on the same page). To join a class, enter the Section ID from your instructor on the Enrollment page, then apply your access code after you sign in. myBusinessCourse’s help says its codes contain no lowercase l and no number 1 (type a capital I), and a code from a used textbook may no longer be valid.

Do myBusinessCourse’s Terms allow bots or automation tools?
No. myBusinessCourse’s Terms of Use, published by Sage, say: “You may not develop, support, or use software, devices, scripts, robots, crawlers, browser extensions, plug-ins, screen capture tools, automation tools, or any other means or processes to scrape, copy, extract, monitor, modify the appearance of, or automate interactions with the Services or any content therein, except as expressly permitted by Sage in writing.” They also say to sign in “only under your own username and password,” and that Sage may suspend or terminate access “if we have reason to believe that you have failed to comply.” In our reading, that reaches Silent Student. We are not lawyers. Your school’s academic-integrity policy is separate, and under Silent Student’s Terms (section 5) you are responsible for both.

Can myBusinessCourse detect AI?
We found no myBusinessCourse or Sage page that says how, or whether, it detects AI help, so we make no claim either way. Sage does say what instructors get: “instructor reports that help you track student activity and assignment completion,” and “question-level diagnostics” by assignment, learning objective or question. Exams can run under Honorlock proctoring, which Sage says is “built right in.” The Terms bar automation tools whether or not anything is detected. Silent Student does not hide or fake any of this activity, and your school’s academic-integrity policy applies.

Is there a myBusinessCourse bot on GitHub?
We found none. A GitHub repository search for “mybusinesscourse” on October 20, 2026 returned no results, and a search for “my business course” returned only unrelated course notes and SQL tutorials. myBusinessCourse’s Terms bar scripts and automation tools whether they are open source or paid.

Is there a myBusinessCourse bot?
Silent Student has a dedicated myBusinessCourse solver. In a search on October 19, 2026 we found no other tool whose own site names myBusinessCourse support. Screenshot extensions and chat assistants can explain a question, but you type the entry yourself. myBusinessCourse’s Terms bar automation tools, so read them before you use any of these.
Is it a Chrome extension?
No. Silent Student is a desktop app for Mac and Windows with its own browser. It opens myBusinessCourse from your Canvas course there; nothing is installed in Chrome.

Does it handle the journal entries with account dropdowns?
Yes. The accounting layout — an Account Name dropdown plus a debit and a credit column for each row — is exactly what it's built for. It selects the account, fills the right amount cell, and leaves the other blank, across every row and every part of the question.
Will it touch questions I’ve already answered?
No. It reads each question’s status first and skips anything already marked correct. It only fills questions that are still open, so your existing work is never overwritten or re-submitted.
Does it actually submit, or just fill the answers?
It submits. On as-you-go homework it clicks Check per question; on graded quizzes it runs the full Finish attempt, Submit all and finish, and confirmation-dialog sequence so the attempt finalizes rather than sitting in progress.
Do I need a separate myBusinessCourse login?
No. myBusinessCourse opens from Canvas through your school’s existing LTI link, so Silent Student reaches it the same way you do: it follows the link from the assignment and picks up the session in the new tab.
Will it get every accounting answer right?
No promise. It works the entries the way you would and aims to get them right, but we don’t promise a score or grade, and it does not retry a question it got wrong. Does My Business Course have an app?
We found no My Business Course app on myBusinessCourse’s or Sage’s pages. myBusinessCourse says “Our eBook is browser-based” and aims to support “desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones,” and Sage says textbook content, homework and videos work “on mobile, desktop, or tablet.” So you use it in a web browser. Is My Business Course proctored?
It can be. Sage says myBusinessCourse has “Honorlock proctoring built right in,” with “no separate systems, no extra student log-ins,” and “no additional cost to your students.” Whether a given exam is proctored is up to your instructor, so check the syllabus or the exam’s instructions. Silent Student does not take proctored exams or tests that need a lockdown browser.
How much does My Business Course cost?
We found no price listed on myBusinessCourse’s home or catalog pages. The University of Minnesota says access “comes with purchase of a Cambridge Business Publishers textbook.” With a used book, myBusinessCourse says the code may no longer be valid and you “can purchase course only access on myBusinessCourse.” Sage says a “2-week grace period” gives every student instant access from day one. Outside the US, Canada and Mexico, myBusinessCourse sends buyers to VitalSource.
