What should make me careful?
The same points the security page asks you to weigh:
- It is a public beta.
- The Mac installer is self-signed (not notarized by Apple) and the Windows installer is unsigned, so your computer warns you the first time you open it.
- Assignment content is sent to api.silentstudent.com and on to the AI model providers Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, Z.ai, DeepSeek and xAI, directly or through OpenRouter.
- Diagnostics are mandatory, include screenshots and page HTML on screen-reading-agent platforms, are kept with no time limit, and are not deleted when you close your account.
- De-identified data may be sold or licensed to other companies, including to train AI models. Vision recordings, problem reports, diagnostics and usage data are covered once names, IDs and anything else that identifies you are removed; personal information is never sold (Privacy, section 8).
- Using it may break your school’s academic-integrity rules. It signs in as you and submits in your account, and you are responsible for your school’s policy.
- It does not take proctored exams.
