Two calculators that each do one job. The Canvas grade calculator follows the rules Canvas uses to work out your grade. The final grade calculator tells you what a final exam has to score to get the grade you want.

How these are checked

The Canvas calculator was tested against Canvas’s own grading code on about 24,000 random gradebooks and 120,000 random assignment groups, and it reproduces 39 hand-worked test cases. Where Canvas itself behaves oddly, the calculator says so instead of guessing. The checks were run on 16 October 2026 against the Canvas source dated 30 April 2026. Both calculators use the same arithmetic, and a test case checks that they agree on the same course.

What happens to your numbers

The calculations run in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent to Silent Student or anyone else. A share link puts your numbers after the # in the address, which browsers keep to themselves, and leaves out your group and assignment names. If you tick “Remember on this device”, your numbers are stored in your browser and nowhere else, and unticking it deletes them. Like every page on this site, these pages are counted in our visit statistics, which never include what you type.
