MyLab Math, MyLab Statistics, Mastering Chemistry and Mastering Physics all open from a link in your Canvas course. Silent Student follows that link, reads each question, types the answer into Pearson's own answer box, and checks that Pearson took it.
MyLab's math questions use the MathXL player: fractions, exponents, radicals and interval notation typed into a special input rather than a plain text field. The agent enters answers into that player and reads the rendered result back.
A single MyLab question often has two to five answer parts. The agent works them top to bottom, checks each part, and only moves to the next question when every part is filled.
Mastering Chemistry and Physics split problems into Part A, Part B and so on, each with its own Submit. The agent submits each part separately and reads the feedback before going on.
Multiple choice, select-all, dropdown and numeric-entry questions are matched by their text, not their position, so a reshuffled choice list does not trip it up.
Typing an answer is not the same as the platform accepting it. After each entry the agent re-reads the live page, so an answer that did not take is caught and retried instead of counted.
A run that turned the work in and saw the platform's confirmation says so. A run that saved some answers and then got stuck is reported as partial, with the remaining part named, never as done.

The app follows the assignment's link out of Canvas, the same launch you would click, and lands on the MyLab or Mastering assignment player. It does not ask for or type your Pearson password.

Questions that ask you to plot points, drag a line on a graph or draw a structure are the hardest type for any screen-reading agent. Expect to check those yourself.
Many Mastering courses deduct credit for each incorrect submission or for opening a hint, and MyLab limits attempts per question. The agent uses the attempts your instructor allows; it cannot take one back.
If a MyLab or Mastering test is gated by Respondus LockDown Browser, Proctorio or Honorlock, it is not attempted. That is deliberate and permanent.

No. It launches MyLab from your Canvas assignment using the session Canvas starts. If Pearson asks you to link or register an account the first time, you do that step yourself; the agent does not type passwords into the tool.
MyLab records normal activity for your instructor: when you worked, how long you spent, how many attempts each question took. Silent Student does not hide, disguise or fake any of that. It works in an ordinary browser on your own computer, signed in as you, and whether using it is allowed is decided by your course policy.
It reads Pearson's feedback and, where your instructor allows more attempts, tries again. It does not loop forever on one question: when a question stalls or its attempts run out it moves on, and the run log lists which questions were not completed.
It works ordinary MyLab and Mastering assignments, including untimed quizzes. Anything behind a lockdown browser or a proctoring service is left alone.
