WileyPLUS + Silent Student: how Progress, attempts and grade sync work
WileyPLUS opens from a link inside your Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle or Brightspace course, and Wiley grades its adaptive assignments with a Progress bar rather than a question count. Here is how both work, and what the agent does with each.

WileyPLUS, in detail
Wiley’s courseware mixes Question Sets, where each answer is submitted on its own, with adaptive assignments that end only at 100% Progress. Both open from your LMS.

What does a WileyPLUS assignment look like?
What does a WileyPLUS assignment look like?
Usually one of two kinds. A Question Set lists its questions, and you send each answer with Submit Answer, within the attempts your instructor’s Question Set Policies allow. An adaptive assignment has no fixed number of questions: you keep going until Progress reaches 100%. Both launch from a WileyPLUS link in your LMS, and scores usually sync back each time a question is submitted.
| Where it opens | A WileyPLUS link inside your LMS course. Wiley says direct login “is not available for LMS-integrated courses.” Wiley help |

| When scores reach Canvas | Usually each time you submit a question, unless your instructor holds results until the due date. Wiley help |
| What the agent uses | WileyPLUS’s own answer fields and its Submit Answer button, read from the screen. |
| What stays with you | Exams in LockDown Browser, and the final check of your score. |

How do WileyPLUS adaptive assignments work?
How do WileyPLUS adaptive assignments work?
By Progress, not a fixed number of questions. Wiley’s help says “Students must reach 100% Progress to complete the assignment.” Progress is calculated from your responses, question difficulty and your history across related topics, and it can go down when you miss questions. A blue bar marks your Highest Progress, which “does not decrease once achieved,” and Wiley says grades “are typically based on Highest Progress.” So if you reach 50% and then slip to 40%, the 50% is what usually counts.

How many attempts do you get on a WileyPLUS question?
As many as your instructor’s Question Set Policies allow. Wiley’s help says attempt limits “are managed through Question Set Policies” inside WileyPLUS, not in Canvas, and that the Canvas Submission Attempts setting should stay at Unlimited. You submit each answer with the Submit Answer button under the question.

Where does WileyPLUS still need you?
Where does WileyPLUS still need you?
Some of it is Wiley’s design, some is your instructor’s settings.
- Held results. If your instructor shows answer results only after the due date, neither you nor the agent sees right or wrong until then.
- Attempts you can’t get back. A submitted wrong answer uses one of the attempts your Question Set Policies allow, whoever pressed Submit Answer.
- LockDown Browser exams. Those are yours to take. Silent Student leaves them alone.
- The score that counts. The app has no WileyPLUS completion check, so confirm your score on the assignment summary page.
Will it take a WileyPLUS exam in LockDown Browser?
No. Exams in WileyPLUS’s LockDown Browser, and any other proctored test, are yours to take. Silent Student leaves them alone and does not try to get around them.
What does Silent Student do on WileyPLUS?
What does Silent Student do on WileyPLUS?
On Question Sets and adaptive assignments alike, it works the page you would see.
Follows the Learning Objective Link
The app opens the WileyPLUS link from your course in its own browser, which is how Wiley says LMS courses are entered.
Works in WileyPLUS’s own fields
The Vision agent reads each question from the screen, enters its answer in the page’s own fields and uses Submit Answer as you would.
Leaves a run log
When it stops, the log lists what it submitted. The summary page holds the score that counts.

Queue the WileyPLUS assignment
Pick it from your course in the Silent Student desktop app.
WileyPLUS opens from your course link
The app launches it the way you would, from the link in Canvas.
Question by question
Each answer goes in through the page and is sent with Submit Answer. An adaptive assignment has no set length, so it keeps taking the next question served.

Your score is there. If Canvas looks stale, the circular arrow beside the score resyncs it.
More questions about WileyPLUS3
Why does my WileyPLUS score show zero in Canvas?
Often because your instructor is holding results until the due date. Wiley says scores usually sync to the LMS each time a question is submitted, but under the policy “You’ll see answer results after the due date” a score can show as zero until then, and grades release after the due date passes. To resync your own score, open the assignment summary page and select the circular arrow next to the score in the upper right.

What does WileyPLUS LockDown Browser block?
Most of your computer, during an exam. Wiley says it prevents printing, copying or pasting, opening other applications, tabs or websites, screenshots and screen recordings, and minimizing the window, until the exam is submitted. Wiley also says it does not monitor your webcam or microphone unless that is separately enabled, and it does not run when you are not taking an exam.

What do Wiley’s Terms of Use say about automated access?
Under “Except as expressly permitted herein, you shall not,” Wiley’s Terms of Use list, word for word: “Access the Services by any means other than instructions provided by Company” and “Use any scraper, crawler, spider, robot or other automated means of any kind to access to copy this site, the Services, Company Content, data therein …” Read the full Terms and judge for yourself, and see what homework platforms’ terms say about AI tools.
