Course Hero vs Studocu vs Chegg
All three sell study help, but different kinds. Course Hero and Studocu are libraries of documents that students upload, sorted by school and course, and both give free access in exchange for uploading your own. Chegg is mainly worked textbook solutions and answers from its experts. None of them enters answers into your course for you.

Course Hero vs Studocu
They work the same way at heart: students upload notes, study guides and past materials, the site sorts them by school and course, and you search for your class. The differences are in what comes with it.
- Course Hero adds people. Course Hero’s Premier plan includes expert tutors and textbook solutions next to the documents, and caps course-specific resources at 30 a month. Premier Plus bundles QuillBot Premium and Symbolab’s math solver.
- Studocu adds recording. Its app records a lecture, transcribes it, summarizes it and turns it into a quiz. It lists no tutors.
- Price you can see: Studocu’s iOS app shows Premium at $34.99 a quarter or $79.99 a year. Course Hero’s plans page shows no price until you sign up.
For a university course, the better one is whichever has more uploads from your course at your school. Search both for your course code before paying for either.
Course Hero vs Chegg
Chegg is built around textbook problems: worked solutions to end-of-chapter questions and an expert who answers what is not in the library. Course Hero is built around class documents from students who took your course, with textbook solutions as one part of its plan. Is Course Hero worth it for students?
It can be, if three things hold. Your course has a lot of uploads, you would use more than a handful of resources a month, and you have checked that the documents for your class are recent. If you have notes of your own to share, uploading them gets you free access to Course Hero tools, which its plans page offers in place of paying. The plans page also mentions a money-back guarantee, with terms.
It is less useful for a course that runs on WebAssign, MyLab, Connect or ALEKS, where questions often use different numbers for each student, depending on how your instructor set them up. A document from last year may not match your numbers, and you still have to enter every answer yourself.
What is better than Course Hero?
That depends on what you use Course Hero for. We don’t rank these, and we make one of them. Prices are each company’s own, from its website or iOS app listing.

Same company: Course Hero and Bartleby
Course Hero’s footer reads “Course Hero, a Learneo, Inc. business”, and Bartleby’s reads “bartleby, a Learneo, Inc. business”. So the two are siblings, not rivals. Bartleby’s homepage offers textbook solutions and expert help, with the first week for $6.95 and then $19.95 a month (bartleby.com). Course Hero’s Premier Plus plan bundles QuillBot Premium and Symbolab, so if you already pay for one of those, check the bundle before buying both.

Course Hero, Studocu and Chegg help you study or look things up. Silent Student does the assignment: it is a desktop app that opens your Canvas assignment, and the platform it links to, in its own browser, works it and submits it. Is Course Hero worth it?
If your course has many recent uploads and you would use more than a few resources a month, it can be. Search for your course code first. Uploading your own documents gets free access to Course Hero tools, which its plans page offers in place of paying.
Course Hero vs Studocu: which is better?
Whichever has more material from your course at your school. Course Hero adds tutors and textbook solutions; Studocu adds a lecture recorder and AI quizzes. Studocu shows its Premium price in its iOS app ($34.99 a quarter or $79.99 a year); Course Hero’s plans page shows none before sign-up.
How much does Course Hero cost?
Its plans page names Premier and Premier Plus but shows no price before you sign up (checked October 20, 2026). Its App Store listing shows several in-app subscriptions, so check the price at checkout.
Can you get Course Hero for free?
Partly. Its plans page says you can share your own study documents to gain free access to Course Hero tools. Studocu works the same way, and also offers a 7-day free Premium trial on its website. Other free, legitimate options are under free Textsheet alternatives.
Is Course Hero better than Chegg?
For notes and study guides from your exact class, Course Hero. For textbook problem sets with worked solutions, Chegg. Neither enters answers into your homework platform.
Is Bartleby part of Chegg or Course Hero?
Course Hero’s side. Bartleby’s footer says it is a Learneo, Inc. business, and so is Course Hero. Chegg’s math solver is Mathway.
Does Silent Student use Course Hero documents?
No. It reads the question on your assignment page and answers it, so it does not depend on a library of past answers. It is not always right: on our benchmark of seven replica assignments it got 156 of 164 graded answers correct (95%).
