Best AI for ALEKS, compared
There is no single best AI for ALEKS. The tools people use fall into a few kinds, and they differ in who does the clicking, whether they work in ALEKS at all, and how current they are.
Pick by the job you have.
ALEKS has several modes, and no tool suits all of them.
You want to understand the topic
ALEKS’s own explanations in Learning Mode, and AI Reader in the ALEKS eBook, which McGraw Hill describes on its ALEKS AI page.
You are stuck on one problem and will enter it yourself
A screen-reading extension such as SnapGPT, FastSolve or XMath AI, or a chat assistant in another tab.
You only want Enter-key shortcuts
InterALEKS, which presses ALEKS’s own buttons when you hit Enter. It is not an answer tool.
You want Learning Mode topics worked from Canvas
An agent. Silent Student opens ALEKS from your Canvas course and works Learning Mode topics, with the limits below.
It is a Knowledge Check, the Initial Knowledge Check, PPL placement or proctored work
None of these. Take it yourself. The ALEKS tour says the first assessment sets your pie, and SnapGPT’s ALEKS page says proctored placement disables extensions.
The options, side by side.
Each row quotes or closely paraphrases the option’s own page. Source links sit under each name.

| Silent Student OursSource: ALEKS page · pricing | Desktop app for Mac and Windows, with its own Chromium browser and profile. | Opens ALEKS from your Canvas course and works Learning Mode topics in the ALEKS answer editor on its general vision agent, not a solver written for ALEKS. It reads each entry back before it presses Check. It does not take the Initial Knowledge Check, Knowledge Checks or PPL placement. | No, for Learning Mode topics you queue from Canvas. You can stop a run. | $11.99, $24.99 or $49.99 a month. No free plan. First-assignment money-back guarantee. | Updates arrive inside the app. We show no rating and publish no reviews. Our published benchmark has no ALEKS replica, so we publish no ALEKS accuracy figure. |
How this table was made. We did not test any of the other options. Their rows quote their own websites, Chrome Web Store listings and GitHub pages, fetched on 19 October 2026 and listed at the bottom. We make Silent Student, so read our row with that in mind. A rating is the one shown on the option’s own store listing. We publish no reviews. Where a vendor’s own site shows a different rating than its listing (SnapGPT’s ALEKS page shows 4.9, XMath AI’s footer 4.7 from 7 ratings), we quote the listing and say so.
What the table leaves out. Accuracy percentages. Sellers print them: FastSolve’s ALEKS page says 98%, SnapGPT’s says 98% and HWSolved’s home page says 99.2%. Each is the seller’s own, none is independent, and they are not comparable. Ask the seller for the method.
For a closer look at how a desktop app differs from an extension, see Silent Student compared with Chrome extensions.
What each kind of tool is good and bad at.
ALEKS’s own help
The ALEKS tour says Learning Mode “provides practice problems and offers explanations of concepts and procedures,” and McGraw Hill adds AI Reader in the ALEKS eBook. Good for learning the method. It does not work your assignment.
Chat assistants by hand
Free tiers exist and the reasoning is often good. The cost is the workflow: you retype or screenshot each problem into another tab, then enter the answer in ALEKS’s editor in the form it expects. Fine for one stuck problem; slow across a learning path.
Extensions that read the screen
SnapGPT, FastSolve and XMath AI read the problem as ALEKS renders it, so you skip retyping notation. SnapGPT and XMath AI show steps for you to enter; FastSolve’s page says a double-click fills the editor. For head-to-heads, see Silent Student vs FastSolve and Silent Student vs SnapGPT.
Navigation helpers
InterALEKS maps the Enter key to the button you would press next and redirects you out of “Session Closed” pages. It saves clicks and solves nothing. Its last update was 8 October 2025.
Open-source bots: dead or unrelated
The top GitHub results for an ALEKS bot are not tools you can use. ianfights/Aleks-bot says it has been dead for years; two other repos named aleks-bot are Discord bots. Read any repo’s last commit and code before you run it with your school login.
Agents
An agent works topic after topic. Silent Student opens ALEKS from your Canvas course in its own browser, enters each answer in the ALEKS editor and reads it back. On ALEKS it runs on a general agent, which our pricing page calls less predictable than a dedicated solver. Its limits are in Where Silent Student fits.
Why ALEKS is different from other homework platforms.
It starts by testing you
ALEKS starts with a test. Its student tour says “ALEKS administers a personalized, adaptive assessment that includes approximately 25 to 30 questions.” The result is the ALEKS Pie of topics mastered and still to learn.
Topics go in the pie only after mastery
You work topics from the pie in Learning Mode. The tour says “Once you have demonstrated mastery in the Learning Mode, the item is added to the ALEKS Pie, and new topics may become available.” Progress counts topics, not questions answered.
Knowledge Checks come back
The assessment is not a one-off. ALEKS’s About page says “ALEKS Knowledge Checks automatically confirm and enhance retention, creating a continuous cycle of learning and assessment.” A topic that went into the pie without being learned can be re-tested later.
Answers go through ALEKS’s own editor
The tour says ALEKS “provides a free-response environment that uses realistic input tools and avoids multiple-choice questions.” Answers go into its editor, with buttons for fractions, exponents and roots, in the form ALEKS expects.
An answer list from someone else will not match yours
This is our inference, not a statement from McGraw Hill: because the assessment and the learning path are built around each student, an answer list made by someone else will not match the problems on your screen. SnapGPT’s ALEKS page says the same thing about randomized numbers. See also Best AI for McGraw Hill Connect.
What McGraw Hill says, what ALEKS records, and placement tests.
McGraw Hill’s Terms of Use
ALEKS’s own pages link their Terms of Use to McGraw Hill’s. The Terms of Use, last updated 16 October 2026, list things users may not do. One is to use any “agent, robot, spider, or other automatic device or program” to access the service. Another is to use, install, permit or enable “any third party software, AI agent, AI-enabled browser, browser extension, or other automated or AI-powered software, website, tool, or mechanism” to act within the service on anyone’s behalf, including “to view, complete, answer, or submit any assessment, assignment, or other activity”, unless McGraw Hill authorizes it in writing. A third bars using McGraw Hill content or its output “in any external AI or machine learning technologies, algorithms, or models”. The Terms say McGraw Hill may suspend or terminate an account it has reason to believe was used in violation of them. They changed on 16 October 2026, so read the current version.
In our reading, that reaches the extensions, bots and agents on this page, ours included. The external-AI clause also reads on its face as covering a chat assistant you paste questions into. It applies whether or not anything is detected. We are not lawyers. Read the Terms yourself before you decide.
Your school
Your school and your instructor set their own academic-integrity rules, which can be stricter than McGraw Hill’s. Silent Student’s Terms (section 5) make you responsible for those rules and for the terms of every platform the app automates.
What ALEKS records
The ALEKS tour describes tracking time spent in a student account by day. Silent Student does not hide or fake that activity. We found no McGraw Hill or ALEKS page describing how, or whether, ALEKS detects AI help, so we make no claim either way.
Placement tests and proctored work
ALEKS PPL placement decides which course you start in. SnapGPT’s ALEKS page says “Proctored ALEKS placement tests (like university placement with Respondus or Honorlock lockdown) disable extensions entirely.” Silent Student does not take placement tests, Knowledge Checks or proctored exams; our pricing page and Terms (section 4) say so for proctored exams.
Eight things to check first.
- Which ALEKS mode you are in. Learning Mode topics, Knowledge Checks and placement are different jobs. Only the first is for any tool here.
- Who does the clicking. Chat assistants and SnapGPT leave the typing to you; FastSolve fills the editor; an agent works the topic.
- Whether it is proctored. If your school runs ALEKS through Respondus, Honorlock or another lockdown browser, no tool on this page is for that.
- When it was last updated. InterALEKS last changed in October 2025 and ianfights/Aleks-bot in May 2023. A tool that has not moved is probably behind.
- Where it runs and what it can see. An extension runs inside the browser profile you are signed into; HWSolved’s installs in Developer Mode, outside the Chrome Web Store. Read each privacy page. Ours is here.
- How it is priced. Weekly passes, monthly plans and daily allowances do not compare by headline price.
- What proof you can check. A published method and dated runs beat a percentage. Treat any accuracy number as the seller’s own, ours included, and note that we publish none for ALEKS.
- Red flags. Be wary of promises that nobody can see the tool, or that nothing shows up in ALEKS’s logs. HWSolved’s home page, for example, advertises “3 Stealth Tiers” and sells a “Lockdown Browser Bundle”. Also be wary of claims that a tool works on Knowledge Checks or placement, or under Respondus or Honorlock, “100% accuracy”, and any request for your school password.
If your course rules out all of these, ALEKS’s explanations, AI Reader and your instructor stay open.
What it does, what we measured, and where it stops.
What it is
A desktop app for Mac and Windows, made by El Dorado Ignition LLC. You connect your Canvas account once, and your login stays on your computer, encrypted by the macOS Keychain or Windows. It follows the ALEKS link from your Canvas course, works Learning Mode topics and reports what it could not confirm.
Plans are $11.99, $24.99 and $49.99 a month. There is no free plan. If Silent Student can’t complete the first assignment you run on a paid plan, you can ask for that first payment back within 30 days (Terms, section 4). Read plans and the guarantee.
It runs on a Mac with Apple Silicon or Windows 10 or later, in public beta. The Mac build is self-signed and not Apple-notarized, and the Windows build is unsigned.
What we measured
Our published benchmark has no ALEKS replica, so we publish no ALEKS accuracy figure.
The benchmark page covers replicas of other platforms we built. Its headline figure is not an ALEKS number. Who we are is on our About page.
Where it stops
- It does not take the Initial Knowledge Check, Knowledge Checks or PPL placement. It does not recognise a Knowledge Check, and ALEKS can start one during a long session, so queue Learning Mode topics only.
- It does not take proctored exams.
- Graphing topics are the weakest type, and so are chemistry topics that ask you to draw a structure.
- It does not run on a Chromebook.
- ALEKS runs on a general agent, which is less predictable than a dedicated solver. No plan promises a grade.
- Silent Student is not affiliated with or endorsed by McGraw Hill, and McGraw Hill’s Terms bar this kind of tool.
Is there an ALEKS auto solver or answer bot?
Not one that covers all of ALEKS. What exists splits by who enters the answer. SnapGPT and XMath AI read the problem and show steps that you enter yourself; FastSolve’s ALEKS page says a double-click fills the editor, and then you submit. InterALEKS only presses ALEKS’s next button when you hit Enter. The GitHub repos named for an ALEKS bot are dead or are Discord bots. Silent Student, which we make, works Learning Mode topics from your Canvas course on a general agent, which is less predictable than a dedicated solver, and it does not take Knowledge Checks or placement. McGraw Hill’s Terms of Use bar bots, agents and third-party browser extensions from accessing or interacting with its service (the wording).
Is there an ALEKS answer key?
Not one that would match your problems. ALEKS’s instructor manual says practice problems “are generated by algorithms, with randomly selected numerical values, so that the variety of problem instances for any topic is very high.” Your numbers differ from a classmate’s, and the topics you see depend on your own pie, which the first assessment sets. A list of someone else’s answers will not fit yours. Our guide Is there an ALEKS answer key? covers the knowledge checks, points and Explain pages in more detail.
How do you get ALEKS solutions?
From ALEKS itself, in Learning Mode. The same manual says that below the answer editor “are buttons labeled ‘Next’ and ‘Explain’”, and that “Different examples of how to solve the problems will be displayed on the ‘Explain’ pages.” The ALEKS tour adds that you get “immediate feedback in the Learning Mode and, in some cases, suggestions for correcting mistakes.” Explain shows a worked example of the same type; you still enter your own answer with your own numbers.
Common questions
It depends on the job. To understand a topic, use ALEKS’s own explanations and AI Reader in the ALEKS eBook. For one stuck problem, use an extension or a chat assistant and enter the answer yourself. To have Learning Mode topics worked from Canvas, use an agent such as Silent Student, with its limits. McGraw Hill’s Terms bar AI agents and extensions, so read them first.
McGraw Hill’s own AI does: explanations in Learning Mode and AI Reader in the ALEKS eBook. Some extensions read the ALEKS screen, and FastSolve’s page says a double-click fills the ALEKS answer editor. Silent Student opens ALEKS from Canvas and types into the editor. McGraw Hill’s Terms bar third-party extensions and AI agents from acting in its service unless it authorizes them in writing.
Several tools have free allowances on their own pages: SnapGPT gives 5 screenshot answers a day, FastSolve 10 solves a day, and XMath AI has a free plan. The ALEKS bot that tops GitHub searches says it has been dead for years. Silent Student has no free plan; it has a first-assignment money-back guarantee. Check each page for current terms.
Not a working one that we found. ianfights/Aleks-bot has 7 stars, a last commit on 27 May 2023 and a README that opens “This Project has been dead for years”. TalentHubProject/aleks-bot and S0dlive/aleks-bot are Discord bots that share the name and have nothing to do with ALEKS.
Yes, by McGraw Hill’s own description. Its ALEKS AI page says “ALEKS uses powerful AI to create personalized learning experiences for each student”, through Knowledge Checks, learning paths and built-in explanations. AI Reader brings generative AI into the ALEKS eBook, and the Sharpen study app can be added to courses in Fall 2026.
Take those yourself. The Initial Knowledge Check, about 25 to 30 questions by the ALEKS tour’s count, sets which topics ALEKS gives you, and placement decides which course you start in. SnapGPT’s ALEKS page says proctored placement with Respondus or Honorlock lockdown disables extensions. Silent Student does not recognise a Knowledge Check and does not take placement tests; queue Learning Mode topics only.
No. McGraw Hill’s Terms of Use, last updated 16 October 2026, say you may not use any “agent, robot, spider, or other automatic device or program” to access the service. They also bar you from using or enabling a third-party “browser extension” or “AI agent” to act within it, including “to view, complete, answer, or submit any assessment, assignment, or other activity”, unless McGraw Hill authorizes it in writing.
McGraw Hill documents what ALEKS records, not how it treats AI. The ALEKS tour describes tracking time spent in a student account by day. We found no McGraw Hill or ALEKS page that describes how, or whether, ALEKS detects AI help, so we make no claim either way, as on our Connect comparison. The Terms bar AI agents whether or not anything is detected.
No. It does not ask for or type your ALEKS password. It follows the ALEKS link from your Canvas course, the same launch you would click, so there is no separate ALEKS login for it to manage. Your Canvas login stays on your computer, encrypted by the macOS Keychain or Windows.
